Publisher:CIMC

Recently, the "Mero 3 FPSO Project Naming and Delivery Ceremony" was held at CIMC Raffles Yantai Base under CIMC. This is the first domestic FPSO renovation project that includes main hull renovation, module construction and integration, and FPSO system commissioning all completed in the same shipyard.

The project was undertaken by CIMC Raffles and delivered to the shipowner, Malaysia International Shipping Company (MISC). Installed in the Libra block of the Mero oil field in the offshore of Rio de Janeiro, it will later serve Petrobras for the exploitation of deep-sea pre-salt oil fields in Brazil.

On the same day, Han Yaodong, Deputy Mayor of Yantai City, Shandong Province, Norman Muhamad, the Malaysian Ambassador to China, Gao Xiang, President of CIMC Group, Captain Rajalingam, President and CEO of MISC, Henrique Paes Vaz, Contract Manager of the Petrobras Mero 3 project, and Wang Jianzhong, President of CIMC Raffles, attended the ceremony.

The project is named "FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias", representing excellence, safety, and success.

The original ship is a Malaysian-flagged Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) with a capacity of 300,000 tons. The modified FPSO has a total length of 341.2 meters, a width of 67.2 meters, and a depth of 29.7 meters. The living quarters and main engines on the original ship were removed, and new loading and unloading oil modules, flare tower modules, oil and gas processing modules, compression modules, and pipe galleries were installed. The total weight of the added modules is about 44,000 tons, and the empty weight of the ship exceeds 110,000 tons.

This FPSO adopts a 24-point mooring system and can process 180,000 barrels of crude oil per day, 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, and has a storage capacity of up to 1.45 million barrels. It will be installed at a working depth of approximately 2,050 meters and serves as an "offshore oil processing plant" integrating production processing, storage and unloading, personnel accommodation, and production command. This is the world's first FPSO to utilize HISEP technology, effectively reducing carbon emissions.

In recent years, the global deep water development business has been recovering, and there is a strong demand for FPSO. CIMC Raffles takes FPSO as a strategic business to seize industry opportunities. By establishing a professional oil and gas research and development center, expanding facilities and infrastructure, leveraging the resources of deep water terminals, and innovating module construction methods, CIMC Raffles enhances FPSO production capacity and provides sufficient resource guarantees for business development.

As of now, CIMC Raffles has delivered the hulls of the Petrobras P71 FPSO, P78 FPSO blocks, and upper modules of multiple FPSO projects, and has undertaken the general contracting for the construction of the P80 and P83 FPSO hulls. In addition, apart from the delivery of the Mero 3 FPSO, CIMC Raffles has also undertaken the conversion of a semi-submersible drilling platform into a floating production unit (FPU) in terms of renovation and achieved breakthroughs in gas production platform projects.
